Mental Health First Aid Blended Online Training

UNSW Health are pleased to offer subsidised Blended Online Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to UNSW staff.

UNSW is proud to be recognised as a Gold Mental Health First Aid Skilled Workplace, showing our commitment to building a mentally healthy workplace. Students and staff at UNSW are encouraged to get involved by undergoing training to become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider) and build local MHFA networks in their faculties and schools.

What is Mental Health First Aid?

Just like physical first aid courses train members of the public to provide basic first aid to someone with a physical health condition, MHFA teaches skills to help someone experiencing a mental health problem.

Training Format

The training is made up of two components:

  • Self-paced eLearning course over 5-6 hours
  • 2 x 2.5 hour webinars (see all available dates below)

You must be available to attend both 2.5 hour webinars in full.

Once the training is complete you can undertake an online assessment to become an accredited MHFAider.

Dates

Please choose ONE set of dates that is most suitable for you. The available dates are as follows:

  • 6 & 7 October, 9:30am-12pm both days
  • 18 & 19 October, 9:30am-12pm both days
  • 31 October & 1 November, 9:30am-12pm both days

What's the cost?

MHFA is subsidised for all UNSW staff through Strategy 2025 funding that is dedicated to enhancing UNSW's support for students and improving student mental health. The training is available at at reduced rate of $75.

Payment can be made by credit card or using internal funds transfer - please check with your fund manager before adding your fund details at checkout.
