Mental Health First Aid for Staff - Standard Course
UNSW Health and UNSW Wellbeing are pleased to offer subsidised Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) training to UNSW staff.
UNSW Sydney is proud to be recognised as a Gold Mental Health First Aid Skilled Workplace, showing our commitment to building a mentally healthy workplace. Staff at UNSW are encouraged to get involved by undergoing training to become a Mental Health First Aider (MHFAider) and build local MHFA networks in their faculties and divisions.
What is Mental Health First Aid?
Just like physical first aid courses train members of the public to provide basic first aid to someone with a physical health condition, MHFA teaches skills to help someone experiencing a mental health problem.
Training Format
The Standard MHFA course will be delivered on campus by a Master MHFA facilitator over two days. You need to be present for the full two days to become accredited in MHFA, so please only register if you can commit to this.
Please note, online alternative options are available if you prefer not to come onto campus. Please click here for details.
You will be provided with a MHFA manual to keep. Please bring a pen and notebook. It's also a good idea to bring a jacket as it can be hard to set the AC temperature to suit everyone!
Once the training is complete you can undertake an online assessment to become an accredited MHFAider.
