Loneliness in Contemporary Life: Overcoming the Ultimate Paradox

with Mental Health Professional, Eddy Tam

One of the most interesting paradoxes is that we can be constantly surrounded by people, whether in public transport, on the streets, in a pub, or even at work - yet feelings of loneliness still lurk in our hearts. A recent survey showed that internationally, loneliness is one of the highest contributors to negative human health - with over 30% of respondents listing it as a key concern.

As with the usual presentation with Eddy, we will not be covering basic techniques like "join a club" or "do volunteering" (although recently published research showed that volunteering outperformed a large range of other common activities that are often used to improve individual wellbeing). Instead, uniting science and the humanities, this session's focus will be on breaking open the topic of loneliness. This will hopefully inspire you to be able to strategise and take the next steps in maintaining a more interconnected life.

This webinar will be held from 12.30pm-1pm on Wednesday 21 February 2024.
